#266 – Sunface Candle
Paper Casting Project

A unique and charming gift of
a decorative candle with a basket of matching cookies!

Materials Needed:

1 Rycraft cookie stamp or craft stamp:
#266 – Sunface
  OR   #1006 – Sunface
Cotton linter - (see Rycraft Paper Casting Kit and Refill)
1 paper casting* -
#266 – Sunface  OR   #1006 – Sunface (see Basic Paper Casting Instructions)
1 candle (round or square)
1 piece natural raffia ribbon, approx. 1" wide and long enough to reach around the candle with a 1" overlap.
Glue of your choice or hot glue
Acrylic varnish
Acrylic paints: metallic gold

*Note:  Alternately, the casting for this project may be made from clay instead of paper (see Basic Clay Casting Instructions). The choice is yours.

Note: You can substitute Import design #1006 - Sunface for Heirloom design #266 (pictured).

Instructions:

1.  When paper casting is dry, use sharp scissors or an Exacto® knife to cut out sunface design from casting.
2.  Apply a light coat of varnish to seal the casting from moisture (so it will not swell and lose the design when paint is applied).
Optional: Apply a light 2nd coat of varnish and let dry.
3.  Apply gold paint to both sides of sunface cut-0ut. Let dry.
4.  Apply a light coat of spray varnish to seal in paint. Let dry. Optional: Apply a 2nd coat of varnish if desired for more sturdiness. Let dry.
5.  Wrap raffia ribbon around candle and glue ends together at rear of candle.
6.  Use glue to affix casting to center of raffia at front of candle.
