**20 Scandinavian Cookies - Delikatessar
(not for use with cookie stamps)

1/4 cup soft shortening
1/4 cup soft butter
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
Add and mix well:
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Stir in:
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Beat with fork and set aside:
1 egg white
Have ready:
3/4 cup finely-chopped walnuts


Roll into walnut-sized balls. Dip in egg white and roll in chopped nuts. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 5 minutes at 375° F. Remove from oven; press thumb into top of each cookie; return to oven to bake 8 to 10 minutes more. When cool, fill thumbprint with jam.
