Stamped Cookies - Drop, Press or Stamp Cookies
Drop, Press or Stamp Cookies   

1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup oil
2 teaspoons vanilla (or use other favorite flavoring)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
5 cups flour (unsifted is best)


May be prepared in electric mixer. Cream butters and sugars. Beat in eggs. Add and mix in thoroughly oil, vanilla, baking soda, cream of tartar and flour. (Dough may be refrigerated if desired.)  Can drop by teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet, press dough onto a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan and press in designs using a square cookie stamp, or form dough into walnut-size balls and stamp with a round cookie stamp. Bake at 350° F for approximately 8 minutes for drop or ball cookies, a little longer for sheet cookies, until golden brown. Makes 4 to 5 dozen, depending on size.
