International Recipes - Mexican “Tea Rose Cookies”
Tea Rose Cookies

2 sticks butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon rose water
2 tablespoons honey
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
dash of salt
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon water


Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla, rose water and honey. In separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. Slowly blend flour mixture and sugar mixture. Remove from bowl and shape in to a large ball then flatten. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Shape into golf-size balls, place onto cookie sheet, then press with cookie stamp. Mix egg yolk and water and brush cookie tops. Bake in 350° F. oven for about 20 minutes. Makes 2 dozen cookies.
